Travelling in Style with Wolf & Maiden

One of the things I love about travelling is finding homeware and fashion that you just wouldn’t see in your home country. The chance to buy something beautiful, locally crafted and with a story behind it, that few other people will have in the UK, is just too much temptation. For this reason I’ve invested in a few key pieces from my travels to Iceland, America and Thailand, among others.

Pie and cocktail love in Leeds

People either love valentine’s day or hate it but I tend to think you only live once and if it’s one more reason to celebrate, dance in the rain just because you can or have another kiss with your sweetie, then why not?!

Into the woods - Dalby Forest

We rose early and feeling ravenous crept our way down to the kitchen for spicy baked eggs and gooey camembert with crusty french bread. After a good feed we were ready for a micro adventure and to walk off brunch.

Backpacking around Sri Lanka in 2 weeks - Galle, Hikkaduwa & Bentota

This is the final post on 'backpacking around Sri Lanka in two weeks' series and it's been an epic story to tell. If you want to read from the beginning click here, here, here and here.

Galle is the administrative capital of the south and has an interesting mix of architecture from its various occupations, including the Portugese in the 16th century, the Dutch and the British. Much of the building and infrastructure is Dutch, including the intricate canal system, which makes it an interesting melting pot of styles.

Want to break your bad habits and achieve your goals?

We all sometimes feel like no sooner has February rolled around (or earlier...ahem) that we've given up our New Year's resolutions and those bad habits continue or we struggle to form fresh new, healthy goals. Whether it be getting more exercise or being more assertive at work. I tend to be of the view that goals can be started at any time,if there's good reason, so with that in mind, I'm deciding what's in with the new and out with the old!

Healthy pancake recipe

In my book, pancake day is a holiday and I think it should be celebrated with a day off work in the same way as we do with a bank holiday. In fact there should be more food related holidays...burger day, pizza day, cake day etc...I'll keep on dreaming! I couldn't let it go by without 'celebrating' with a healthier pancake recipe for you to enjoy. Look at that melty, gooey chocolate...mmm.

Backpacking around Sri Lanka in two weeks - Yala National Park

Yala National Park and safari

Sri Lanka is well known for its food, culture and stunning scenery as I've written about here, here and here but it is also home to a fascinating array of wildlife and jungle. Being avid wildlife lovers we were keen to see all types of fauna in Sri Lanka and we had always wanted to do a safari so our driver recommended taking us to Yala National Park. This was before we did an African safari so we were unsure what to expect but we had heard it was home to wild elephants, leopard, bears, crocodiles and many other species.
