Our summer holidays got off to a whiz-pop-blast with a special delivery from our favourite toy brand Wicked Uncle. If I'm ever looking for a gift that is a little bit different to ordinary, they are my go to!
You can imagine how excited my young pups were to receive a massive mystery box through the post with a delicious invitation to get to work on trying out these bad boys.
With a not-to-be-sniffed at 30 foot range, these Airshot pop blasters were not any ordinary toy but a serious bit of kit that is rated suitable for children 8+. Of course, I issued the mandatory safety briefing...don't point them at each other....don't point it at your face.....etcetera etcetera and then I took them to an enormous field and let them get to work.
We attracted a few envious glances from the kids milling around at the park, but luckily, living in the countryside, we have a lot of space to play with. They stood side-by-side and created their very own foam ball shooting range, with markers to aim for.
Unfortunately just as we were getting going one of the blasters wouldn't play ball (excuse the pun), so we had to make a few adjustments but then we were off.
Like dambusters the foam balls rained through the sky with a satisfying pop with each reload. An impressive 12 balls are contained in each Airshot Pop Blaster, so it's not a frustratingly slow process. The Little Inspiration's competed with each other on whose ball went the furthest but eventually it was impossible to tell which one belonged to who.
So, we just went with it and had fun! Once all chambers were empty it was a mad scramble to refill them ready for the next round. This is what one of the Little Inspiration's had to say about them:
'The Airshot Pop Blasters were fun to play with, even though when we took one of them out of the packaging and tried it out we realised it had gotten jammed. The colours were fun and made me excited to play with it. It could have been a little bit clearer about how to stop it jamming. Overall they were very fun to play with.'
Then, after some great fun for the littles, it was time for the grown ups to have a turn, and although I'd love to say it was less competitive and far more sensible, it absolutely wasn't. :)
We really liked the design of these and will definitely be taking them on future trips to the park with friends.
