Rudding Park Spa Review: A Whimsical Weekend: Love, Lamb, and Lavender at Rudding Park

Okay, fellow wanderlusters, let's talk about escapes. Not just the "quick weekend getaway" kind, but the "transport me to a world of absolute magic and romance" kind. That's exactly where we found ourselves – in the charming and chic realm of Rudding Park.

It all started when "He," my steadfast Carnivore companion, and "She," the eternally-Herbivore-seeking soul, decided we desperately needed a serious pause on reality. We craved a romantic couples retreat, something a little special, something, well, different. Rudding Park delivered, with bells on (and a clocktower)!

Checking into Comfort Central

First things first: the rooms. We're talking chic, comfortable, modern. Forget stuffy old hotel vibes. This was cool. The kind of place where you could lounge in a bathrobe and feel incredibly stylish. It was sleek, inviting, and just perfect for post-spa chill-out sessions. And let me tell you, those sessions were needed... We started by taking in the beautiful grounds surrounded by a golf course and we ambled by a campsite and outdoor pool, which looked great for families.

Soaking Up the Magic: The Rooftop Spa

Then came the glorious rooftop spa of dreams, where every instafluencer has posed at the top of the infinity pool stairs. Words simply cannot do this place justice. Forget everything you thought you knew about spas; this was a sensory overload of pure wonder. Picture this: relaxing in an infinity pool that seems to melt into the sky, surrounded by panoramic views of the stunning Yorkshire countryside. The fresh air, the warmth of the water, the absolutely breathtaking vistas – it was nothing short of magical.

The "cool factor" was turned way up, with sleek design, comfortable loungers, and a vibe that was both sophisticated and incredibly relaxing. It was the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a place where you could truly disconnect and lose yourself in the beauty of the surroundings.

The Clocktower: A Symphony for the Senses

Speaking of needed, dinner at the Clocktower restaurant was an experience in itself. Nestled right there in the heart of the estate, it's a place where tradition meets contemporary cool. The atmosphere was intimate, with a touch of theatricality that only added to the wonder.

Now, for the main event: the food. As a self-proclaimed Herbivore, I often find myself navigating menus with a degree of trepidation. But Clocktower's offerings were a true celebration of plants. I practically did a little happy dance (and maybe let out an audibly delighted gasp) when I saw the imaginative, delicious-sounding veggie options. I opted for a dish that can only be described as culinary wizardry: a delicate, perfectly balanced plate where every ingredient was a hero, from the vibrant, locally-sourced vegetables to the inventive, unexpected pairings. Honestly, it was a work of art that tasted even better than it looked.

"He," on the other hand, was in carnivore heaven. He gave the kind of contented nod that only comes from genuinely exceptional meat. His choice? A beautifully-cooked lamb dish, and let me tell you, I have never seen a person look quite so enamored with a piece of meat. There were murmurings about "perfection," "tenderness," and a depth of flavour that was just plain incredible. We were both absolutely dazzled.

After dinner we sat on the Terrace enjoying our cocktails and they happened to have a big screen up broadcasting an event, so we soaked up the ambience and music.

A Magical Escape (and the Lavender Scent!)

Our weekend at Rudding Park was a dream…a whimsical adventure that we won't soon forget. From the incredible food, to the ultra-cool rooftop spa and the sheer charm of the place, it was everything we could have hoped for in a romantic escape.

And, if you happen to find yourself there, do me a favour and breathe deeply. The entire place seems to be infused with the scent of lavender, a subtle, wonderful aroma that follows you around and just adds to the overall sense of tranquility and wonder. It's the little things, you know?

So, if you're looking for a couples retreat that's a little out of the ordinary, that combines a dash of awe and wonder with sheer comfort and cool, then Rudding Park is the place. It's not just a getaway, it's an experience, a little piece of magic right there in Yorkshire. Go on, unleash your inner god or goddess and treat yourselves. You deserve it!
