What is Christmas without games? It helps break the ice in a group and bonds generations. My kids love involving nana in them and find it hilarious when we’re all excitedly shouting over one another, acting immature, desperate to win. Here are our top 5 picks for this Christmas.
Tension
Teams race to name 10 answers in a category that match the card. Such as 10 types of fruit or 10 breeds of dog. Cue lots of shouting and excitement. A great party game at Christmas or for group gatherings. It says 8+ but younger team members can be helped by the groups and would still enjoy this.
Herd Mentality
This a game of blending in not standing out, where you secretly write answers that you think the group would most commonly answer ie. what is the heaviest animal you could wrestle to the ground, or the best car brands. It’s thinking like the crowd to win cow tokens. But if you get the pink cow it’s game over. Great fun. It says 10+ but that’s more because some of the categories would be lost on younger ones but adults could help.
Speed stackers
Did you know speed stacking championships were a thing? Me neither until recently but this game has become addictive to my children who love to race others or even go for a PB. They also like to make towers and see how tall they can go before they fall. An easy, competitive game to play for all ages, in a group.
Taco goat pizza
This a bit like snap - loud, reflex-based but has to match the words taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza in that order. Great for various ages but younger ones love it. We end up falling over ourselves to win but it’s a tongue twister to get out.
What are your go to games for Christmas? Drop it in the comments and we’ll test it out.
