How to make the best late summer cocktail

With the last of the late summer barbeques in full flow, who doesn't need an awesome cocktail recipe in their toolkit (or ten!). I have some favourites which I go to every year so I thought I'd share one of the best with you.

It's red, fruity, sweet, a bit spicy and oh so flirty and everybody loves it. I like to call it the Malibu Mule. It's strong (well it is in our household anyway), sweet but it's so easy to drink. I even had an 80 year old drinking it at my birthday BBQ last year thinking it was juice. It was very funny when she found out how much booze was in it but luckily she was game for a laugh.
So start with something stylish to serve the cocktail in as you'll want this drink to be seen.I use my gorgeous Jamie at Home Top Up drinks dispenser but this one is very similar.

Then add a healthy glug of Malibu and a healthy glug of Tequila. You can always add more later.

Then add around 1/2 pint Cranberry juice
4 Limes squeezed in and cut into quarters and added to the cocktails

Then add 1 pint of ginger ale. You can adjust the measures if you're not a fan of the spicy stuff.

Once you've made your cocktail, add a lot of ice and taste it. If it needs more or less of anything now is the time to adjust to your tastes.

Also if malibu or tequila are not your thing, this cocktail works soooo well with vodka too.
Add a sprig of mint to garnish and put out some stylish tin mugs or fancy cocktail glasses out for your guests and get to work.

I love to give guests a drink on arrival and this one really helps to get the party started.
I'd love to hear what you think of it. Do you have any favourite cocktail recipes for summer parties?
